UPDATED: KALITTA, FORCE SET THE PACE ON DAY TWO TESTING

Doug Kalitta wasted little time showing why his Applied Innovations-sponsored dragster entered the 2024 season with the No. 1 on the side. 

During the second day of testing at the PRO Superstar Shootout, Kalitta drove his way to the quickest run of To Fuel testing with a 3.658 at 335.46 miles per hour on his final run of the day. 

"The conditions are really good right now, and the track's in good shape." Kalitta said. "Everybody's really doing a hell of a job with this event, with the track. And the conditions, we're just getting lucky tonight. Real proud of my guys. Alan and the guys are making it happen. 

"We've switched things up a little bit, and Brian's actually over on Shawn's car, so we're actually trying to get both of our cars running about the same and trying to share a little bit more of the information."

For much of the day, Leah Pruett, competing in her only event of the season, set the pace with a 3.671, 333.91 pass. Steve Torrence was third quickest with a 3.675.

Shawn Langdon was fourth with a 3.681, while Clay Millican rounded out the top five with a 3.683.

 

 

 

Over in the Funny Cars, it the 17-time drag racing world champion John Force with the quickest run of the day when he drove his Peak-sponsored Chevrolet Camaro to a 3.848 elapsed time at 331.59 miles per hour in the late morning. 

"Give the credit to my boys," Force said. "They make it happen. And this team of kids, Daniel Hood, Danny Fabrizi and Chris Cunningham joined our group. We're just trying to stay in the ball game.

J.R. Todd was second quickest with a 3.881, followed by Bob Tasca III's 3.894. Ron Capps was fourth with a 3.912 while Alexis DeJoria rounded out the top five with a 3.920.

For the second consecutive day, the Pro Stockers primarily made half-track and 1000-foot runs. 

Defending NHRA world champion Erica Enders was the quickest of the day with a 6.489 elapsed time at 211.99 mph.
