Top Fuel driver Larry Dixon was alert, conscious and talking to medical personnel following an accident during the Q-3 session at the Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. 

The car broke in two just past the eighth-mile mark and went airborne before landing hard and making contact with the left retaining wall. The car came to a stop in the shutdown area. 

Dixon walked to the ambulance under his own power where he is still undergoing medical evaluation on-site.
