WALSH, WELCH HEADLINE NMCA MUSCLECAR MAYHEM WINNERS

Rain put a damper on the NMCA Musclecar Mayhem, but it couldn't dampen the performances the multitude of teams turned in at the series season-opener.

The top of the food chain, the VP Racing Fuels Pro Modified division, Don Walsh wheeled his turbo entry to the winner's circle with the low elapsed time of the event, a 3.705, 208.96 to repel the effort of Jason Hamstra, who turned in a respectable but losing 3.747, 204.68.

In the In Holley EFI Factory Super Cars division, Mopar racer Geoff Turk laid his claim to the title out of the gate. Turk made history on Friday by running a historic 7.99. However, Joseph Welch took the win with an 8.02 in his Drag Pak, while Turk took his car through the stripe at 8.12.

Other winners included James Lawrence (Mickey Thompson Radial Wars),  Shawn Ayers (Street Outlaws),  Jordan Ensslin (ARP Nitrous Pro Street),  Bart Tobener (Edelbrock Xtreme Street), Jesse Wilson (Chevrolet Performance Stock),  Ricky Pennington (Open Comp), Jesse Alexandra (Stock/Super Stock), Corky Bumpus (ATI Performance Products Nostalgia Super Stock),
Andy Warren (Nostalgia Muscle Car), Bob Stuller (True Street)
and Bill Lee Jr. (NMCA/Dodge/Mopar HEMI Shootout).

Next up in the six-event NMCA Muscle Car Nationals presented by E3 Spark Plugs series, NMRA and NMCA drivers will join for the 10th Annual NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, April 5-8 at Atlanta Dragway.
