The close-knit Australian drag racing community is mourning the passing of Marie Bray, the matriarch of Team Bray Racing, who passed away after a long illness at age 65.
Marie was the wife of Victor Bray, a pioneer and legendary figure in the Top Doorslammer ranks who was inducted into the Australian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 2023.
The Bray family released a statement on their Facebook page.
“The hardest post Dad and myself and my sisters will ever have to make. But with great sadness, we are letting you all know that Victor’s wife and my mother, Marie Bray has passed away on the 6th of December.
“As a family we are shattered, as mum was our Queen and leader for our race team and our family and is going to be extremely missed by all of us.
“So, in this time, please respect Victor and the family, as we are going through a very hard time and will need time to process this.
“Rest in Peace, our angel.”
A kind and generous spirit, Marie played an integral role in the success of TBR which recorded six Australian Championships, five Winternationals titles and countless wins and records over three decades.
We at CompetitionPlus.com considered Marie as family, and join in the heartbreak of her loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Bray Family at this time.
