Brett LaSala set a new world record for a radial tire drag-and-drive car on day two of Sick Week 2025, presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive. His time of 6.210 seconds at 231.56 mph surpassed his previous record of 6.263 seconds, giving him a 6.349 average as he leads the event.

To solidify his record, LaSala must complete the event in the coming days. His lead has stretched to four tenths of a second over his closest competitor, Josh Davis.

“Orlando will be good tomorrow and it will be hard for me not to turn it up to make a really fast pass,” LaSala said. “We are trying to get some sleep after a long first day, so we need to get our heads back in a spot to make good decisions.”

Davis climbed to second overall and took first place in Modified with a pass of 6.406 seconds, bringing his average to 6.717. His run, however, ended with drama as the windshield on his Devin Vanderhoof-owned convertible Ford Mustang shattered, sending glass throughout the cabin. Fortunately, Davis was unharmed, and the team quickly sourced a replacement windshield.

“It’s a little less than ideal,” Davis said. “Honestly it looks way worse than it is. We got real lucky in a bad situation and we’re thankful nobody was hurt.”

Alex Taylor retained third overall and the lead in Unlimited Iron with a performance of 6.780 seconds, bringing her average to 6.745. Graham Hayes followed closely with a 6.794 average, but faced a setback when a broken driveshaft caused a scary moment in the braking area.

Other class leaders include Nick Rinehart in Heavy Metal with a 6.939 average, Glenn Hunter in Pro Street at 7.004, and Bob Hess Jr. in Super Street averaging 7.434 after taking the lead from Doug Cook, who suffered motor damage after his run the day before.

Darin Hendricks leads the Stick Shift class with an average of 8.861, while Ed Ensor repeated his world record time in Naturally Aspirated with another 7.090-second pass. In Rowdy Radial, Jamie Doller holds the only four-second average so far with a 4.986-second run, and Rick Fletes leads the Sick Week Freaks with a diesel Chevelle averaging 8.585 seconds.

After completing their runs, competitors made a 200-mile trek across Florida to official checkpoints at Charlotte’s Webb Pub and Larsen Motorsports. The latter showcased a jet dragster fire show for the attendees.

Day three of Sick Week 2025 will take place at Orlando Speed World, with racing scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday. Spectators can purchase tickets online or at the gate.
