NHRA Funny Car driver Buddy Hull and the Jim Dunn Racing team will showcase a new yellow-and-black Menards livery during the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, Aug. 14-17 at Brainerd International Raceway, as part of the team’s 75th anniversary celebration.
The paint scheme continues a Menards partnership with Jim Dunn Racing that has lasted more than a dozen years. Hull and Hall of Fame team owner Jim Dunn will appear at the Baxter, Minnesota, Menards store Aug. 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. to meet fans, sign autographs and promote the relationship.
“This Menards car looks amazing, and I’m honored to represent a brand that has been such a loyal supporter of Jim Dunn Racing,” Hull said. “We’re going to Brainerd with a lot to prove, and I’m ready to fight for every round.”
Brainerd is the 13th stop on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series schedule and the second-to-last event before the Countdown to the Championship. Hull said competing during the team’s milestone season adds motivation.

“One of the best parts of celebrating 75 years of Jim Dunn Racing this year has been doing it alongside our incredible partners,” Hull said. “Everyone from the fans to the other teams at the track, to our sponsors, recognize what an achievement it is to be competitive in this sport for so long.”
Hull returns to competition after injuring his left hand during a qualifying incident at the Denso Sonoma Nationals. He will also lead New Fan Orientation on the NHRA Stage at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
“Anytime I can interact with NHRA fans, I am going to take it,” Hull said. “It’s better for our fans to be more informed, and better for the drivers, crew chiefs and team owners when we can enunciate what we do.”
In addition to Menards, Hull’s Funny Car will carry backing from Blaze Exhaust Probes, Lescure Mechanical Services, KGC Construction, Mooneyes, Vertex Roofers and General Contractors, Crow Safety, Koppl Pipeline Services, True Brand, USD, Wiley X and Compass Facility Services.
