Dubbin Motorsports is preparing for the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at ZMAX Dragway, looking to improve on their performance after a challenging season opener in Gainesville. The team’s decision to withdraw from the Gatornationals was driven by an uncertain race schedule and full-time job commitments among team members.
The unique 4-wide format presents challenges but Kirk Wolf and his team demonstrated strong capabilities last year, performing as if they were seasoned at the Charlotte track. Wolf secured the top position in the opening qualifying session, ultimately finishing fourth with consistent runs in the low 5.20s.
In the first round of last year’s event, Wolf achieved a solid reaction time and completed a smooth 5.22-second pass at 277 mph, leading the quad and setting a positive tone. However, after an excellent .038 reaction time in the semi-final, tire issues disrupted the run and prevented progression to the next round.
“There is no doubt that Kirk Wolf and the Dubbin Team are hungry and motivated to use last year’s experience to have a breakout weekend at the Charlotte 4-wide,” Team Owner Dean Dubbin said.
Dubbin looks to build on last year’s solid foundation. “These guys are hungry to put a solid weekend together and I’m confident we can have even stronger results than we did last year,” he added.
Driver Kirk Wolf emphasized the importance of focus amid distractions during the 4-wide event. “If I stay focused on cutting good lights and we run the way we are capable of, the spectacle disappears. There is no reason to make it more than it is; if you get to the finish line first, you win,” he said.
