In 1990, Mark Williams Enterprises (M-W) introduced the industry’s first modular aluminum rear end based on the iconic 9Ford assembly. Over the years, M-W has continuously enhanced this offering, incorporating upgrades that feature 9.5and 10pitch diameter gears. Today, the company announces the launch of theUltimate9Ford rearend assembly, outfitted with several key state-of-the-art components that elevate performance and reliability.

The housing of the Ultimate assembly is constructed from an advanced aerospace alloy aluminum that is 30% stronger than the commonly used 6061 aluminum. All CNC machining processes are executed in-house at the company’s facility located in Louisville, Colorado, ensuring high precision and quality control. The modular design allows for a selection of end bells that determine the housing width, providing versatility to meet diverse application needs. Additionally, the assembly can be configured with mounts for both 4-link and solid installations, and is available with either flanged or full-floater axles, as well as steel tubes for street-friendly applications.

M-W has a storied history in innovation, famously credited with launching the first warranted forged steel axle back in the 1970s. Continuing this legacy, the company has developed the Ultimate Hi-Torque axles, which are crafted from robust 300M material. These axles come backed by an impressive 10-year warranty against breakage, underscoring M-W’s commitment to performance and durability.

The advancement doesn’t stop there; M-W has also refined the pinion support of the Ultimate assembly. The flagship modeling features dual angular contact bearings that incorporate ceramic balls, allowing for an exceptional RPM rating and enhanced operational efficiency. This design investment reinforces the assembly’s capabilities, particularly in high-performance scenarios.

Completing the Ultimate rear end assembly are specially designed 10pitch diameter ring and pinion gears resulting from a collaboration with Gleason Corporation. These gears are constructed from high-quality 9310 alloy, which is precision ground, shot-peened, REM micro-polished, and treated at sub-zero temperatures for optimal strength and performance. This attention to detail makes these gears particularly well-suited for ultra-high horsepower applications, further solidifying the Ultimate assembly’s status within the performance automotive sector.
