More than 200 street-legal cars will compete and cruise across Michigan in the Sick Michigan Miles Presented by Driven Racing Oil, a weeklong drag-and-drive event running August 10–17. The event will begin and end at Milan Dragway, with stops at three other tracks and a drive through the Woodward Dream Cruise.

The route will include racing at Mid-Michigan Motorplex, Northern Michigan Dragway and Ubly Dragway before returning to Milan. All racing will take place over an eighth-mile distance, with some of the quickest cars expected to clock four-second passes.

Among the top contenders are Back to the Streets winner Adam Hodson of Indiana, Rocky Mountain Race Week winner Tom McGilton of Missouri, former Sick Summer Pro Street champion Frank Webb of Tennessee, Wisconsin’s Evan Uerkwitz and Mustang record-setter Leticia Hughes of Kentucky. Teams will travel more than 1,000 miles of public roads between tracks, visiting landmarks such as the Silver Sand Dunes and Mackinac Bridge.

Racers must submit a time slip each day, and the driver with the lowest average elapsed time over the five competition days will earn the Sick Michigan Miles championship. The field also will parade through the Woodward Dream Cruise, billed as the world’s largest one-day automotive event.

Spectator tickets, including week-long Sick Ward VIP passes, are now on sale. Fans can save $5 by purchasing tickets in advance online, and children 12 and under are admitted free.

The event marks a homecoming for Sick, the drag-and-drive brand founded in 2021 by Tom Bailey of Waterford. Originally launched as a magazine, Sick has grown into a media and events company focused on the drag-and-drive scene.

Bailey, who will compete during the week, said bringing the event to his home state was a point of pride. “The racing is taken seriously but a lot of people have entered Sick Michigan Miles purely to explore the region,” he said. “We’ll be driving through a lot of small towns, exploring the coasts and showing people what Michigan is all about.”

He emphasized that the event is as much about the journey as the racing. “The drag-and-drive experience goes well beyond just the track time and into creating lifelong memories for everyone at the event,” Bailey said.
