“Talkin’ Funny Cars with Buddy Hull” has been awarded a People’s Telly Gold in its inaugural season for bringing the personalities of NHRA Funny Car drivers to a wider audience on the NHRA FAST channel. The interview-style show, hosted by Funny Car driver Buddy Hull, is produced by Werner G+E.

The Telly Awards, which have recognized excellence in video and television since 1979, highlight the show’s achievement among notable winners such as Pixar Animation Studios and ESPN. “Talkin’ Funny Cars doesn’t exist without Buddy Hull and his larger-than-life personality,” said Elon Werner, president of Werner G+E.

The program debuted on July 31, 2024, as the first television offering by Werner G+E LLC. It is part of the NHRA’s 24/7 digital channel, which is accessible on various platforms, including the Roku Channel and Tubi.

“Making this show with all my fellow Funny Car drivers was a blast,” Hull said. “I learned a ton my rookie year on the track driving a Funny Car. I can’t thank all the drivers who joined the show to share their stories and the NHRA for providing the platform to air it.”

The concept for “Talkin’ Funny Cars” originated with Werner, who also operates a sports public relations company. Future episodes are planned to expand original content focused on NHRA drivers, crew chiefs, and personalities.

“When the opportunity to create an original series was presented to me in early 2024, the creative wheels in my head just started spinning,” Werner said. “Our goal is to develop ‘Talkin’ Funny Cars’ with an eye on additional programming opportunities.”

The Telly Awards recognize excellence across various forms of video and television programming. In 2025, over 13,000 entries from around the globe were submitted, honoring the best work in the evolving video medium.

Previous winners of the Telly Awards include major media organizations such as CBS Interactive, NBC, and National Geographic.
