MATT SMITH & GEORGE BRYCE UNITED?

CompetitionPlus.com is still investigating but sources have confirmed that Matt Smith will be aboard George Bryce's new Buell Pro Extreme Motorcycle at this weekend's ADRL Hardees Georgia Drags in Valdosta, Ga. What exactly is a Pro Extreme Motorcycle? The answer is simply this, the Buell is exactly like the G-Squared entry that won the 2008 NHRA Finals minus E.F.I., which is replaced by carburetors and nitrous.

Reportedly this is a one-race deal, but who knows after this, our source indicated.

V. GAINES GOING IN-HOUSE?

CompetitionPlus.com has learned that following the DNQ in Houston, V. Gaines will debut a new in-house engine program in Las Vegas. Gaines will remain with Mopar power and this move ends a long-time association with Larry Morgan, who built his engines. Those on the forefront of Pro Stock news will recall that Gaines also owns a sportsman engine company [Madcap Racing Engines] as well as a successful chassis business [Lazarus Race Cars], so an in-house, turn-key Pro Stocker should be on the horizon.

HAGAN PARTS WITH BRAKESAFE?

Matt Hagan tested this past weekend at Palm Beach International in a Funny Car sans the Brakesafe signage. The blank body wasn't just for testing his Don Schumacher Racing Funny Car. CompetitionPlus.com has learned that Brakesafe will no longer be on the side of the Dodge Charger flopper at national events beginning in Gainesville.

Brakesafe, scheduled to serve as the NHRA Pro Mod series sponsor, backed out at the last minute citing a bad economy as the reason.
