BRYCE HEADED TO ADRL?

A solid source has told CompetitionPlus.com that veteran Pro Stock Motorcycle team owner George Bryce won't sit around long lamenting the decision of G-Squared Motorsports withdrawing from NHRA Pro Stock competition. Reportedly, he'll make his debut at the second event on the ADRL tour in April at the Valdosta, Ga., event with a Buell. No word on who the rider is yet.

NASCAR TO DRAG RACING? - UPDATED

A source very close to the happenings around NASCAR tells us that some of the leading NASCAR teams are studying the feasibility of NHRA Pro Stock engine lease programs as a means to bring in added revenue. We are told that one of those teams studying the possibility closely is Roush-Yates Racing Engines based in Mooresville, N.C. If this comes to pass, are we looking at a serious influx of NHRA Ford Pro Stock teams? UPDATED: Could one of the leading candidates for this program be in the neighborhood? That's what we are hearing.

MAJOR NETWORK TV FOR ADRL?

The National Guard ADRL to return to broadcast TV in 2009?  The contract details are currently being finalized for 11 one hour episodes, including coverage of all 10 ADRL National Events and a separate one hour show for the Speedtech Battle for the Belts, to air on a major network on Saturday or Sunday afternoons one week after each event between 2 and 7 PM EST.  Each episode will also be available for download on www.ADRL.us one week after their original airdate.  Stay tuned!

BILLY GLIDDEN SIGNS SPONSOR?

A solid source tells CompetitionPlus.com, after much speculation that he would be out this season, Billy Glidden will indeed race in 2009 to defend his ADRL Extreme 10.5 championship. Glidden has reportedly acquired a major backer with enough clout to ensure he will run the entire tour. We are told that an official announcement is days away.

J.R. TODD COMING OFF THE SIDELINES?

Sources have indicated there's a strong liklihood that former NHRA Rookie of the Year J.R. Todd could appear at four, possibly five races in 2009 as a driver for a forthcoming sponsor test program. Word has it this program will come forth from the Bob Vandergriff Jr. camp

IHRA LANDS TITLE SPONSOR?

A solid source tells CompetitionPlus.com that the IHRA has landed title sponsorship for the series. Our source tells us this non-automotive company has ties to the NHRA, making this an even more interesting deal. The IHRA maintains a no-comment stance on the rumor.

FULLER-VANDERGRIFF IN HOUSTON?

Word has it that an announcement is forthcoming that places Hot Rod Fuller as a driver with Bob Vandergriff Jr., in the role of team owner, running a partial schedule in 2009 with a mix of various sponsorships. No word on who those sponsors are but the team is expected to hit the key markets. A source close to the situation confirms the team could debut as soon as the NHRA O'Reilly Spring Nationals in Houston, Tex.

IHRA TO UTAH IN 2010?

CompetitionPlus.com has learned the IHRA has visions of running a national event at Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2010. Reportedly, the track is in the process of switching from their NHRA sanction over to IHRA and could stage an "introduction" event in the form of a Thunder Jam event this June. If this comes to pass, this might provide a second stop for race teams during the IHRA's one-race western swing into Edmonton.

KJ IN, WJ FILTERING OFFERS?

CompetitionPlus.com has learned that Kurt Johnson will be in Pomona with renewed backing from ACDelco, but what we find interesting is the rumor we've learned from a highly placed source suggests that GM Performance Parts will serve as an associate backer. Where does that leave W.J.? Unless Pontiac, now void of any livery, ends up with sponsorship livery, he will be on the sidelines. However, multiple sources tell us not to be surprised if the Professor ends up with K&N Filters backing.

AN RCR PRO STOCKER?

Could NASCAR icon Richard Childress be in the formative stages of preparing a Pro Stock operation? According to a source who would know, he has no set timetable for such a debut. We are told this program is being built around a former IHRA Pro Stock figure. You will recall that Childress was present last summer during a SPEED TV episode where NASCAR drivers tried tested their skills driving Pro Stockers supplied by Victor Cagnazzi.
