Ron Capps and Maddi Gordon will be featured prominently in Chasing Speed, a new six-part docuseries debuting Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on VICE TV. The series chronicles the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series and places a national spotlight on professional drag racing.

Produced in hour-long episodes, Chasing Speed explores the sport’s competitive core while spending significant time away from the starting line. The series follows drivers and teams as they navigate pressure, preparation, and the personal cost of racing at more than 330 mph.

At the center of the series is Ron Capps, a three-time Funny Car world champion and longtime fixture in the professional ranks. Cameras trace his evolution from hired driver to team owner while revisiting the moment he received his first major opportunity from Don Prudhomme.

The storyline extends beyond reflection and into responsibility. After balancing ownership and driving duties for four seasons, Capps expanded Ron Capps Motorsports by adding Maddi Gordon, a third-generation racer preparing to enter Top Fuel competition in 2026.

Gordon’s arc captures the final chapter of her family-based Sportsman career and the uncertainty that comes with stepping into the professional ranks. The series documents her transition as she prepares for a dramatically different competitive and financial environment.

“I’m thrilled that NHRA Drag Racing is finally getting its due and being featured in this way,” Capps said. “For so long, I’ve said NHRA needs its own show, because this truly is a one-of-a-kind sport and there are so many different people and personalities that come together from all walks of life and duke it out week after week.”

Capps emphasized that the appeal extends beyond speed and spectacle. He believes the behind-the-scenes access will resonate most with new viewers discovering the sport for the first time.

“For me, it’s really special to have been invited to participate in this docuseries,” Gordon said. “It was cool to share this part of my journey during those final races competing with my family.”

She added that the timing of the project coincided with major life changes. Gordon described the months leading into her Top Fuel debut as a whirlwind, with the series providing a permanent record of that transition.

The docuseries also follows Jasmine Salinas, whose 2025 season featured both momentum and interruption. Her storyline highlights the instability many independent teams face despite competitive results.

After an encouraging start, Salinas was forced to pause operations for much of the season while seeking funding. When she did race, she made the most of those opportunities, recording four semifinal appearances in six events.

“I’m excited to watch it along with everyone else,” Salinas said. “It means a lot to me that they chose to highlight some of my drag racing journey.”

She said the broader exposure matters beyond individual results. Salinas expressed hope that new audiences would gain an appreciation for the effort required to compete at the sport’s highest level.

Chasing Speed places individual stories alongside championship pursuits. The series also features performances and perspectives from drivers including Brittany Force, whose 343-mph run reset the Top Fuel speed standard.

Other featured narratives include Austin Prock’s rapid ascent under the guidance of John Force. Antron Brown’s championship campaign also anchors the season-long arc.

The series reflects on the sport’s roots as it approaches a milestone year. Foundational principles established by Wally Parks are revisited through historical context and modern competition.

All six episodes air weekly on Wednesdays on VICE TV. Each episode will be available on VICE’s YouTube channel 24 hours after its initial broadcast.

The premiere arrives ahead of NHRA’s 75th anniversary season, which begins March 5–8, 2026, in Gainesville, Florida. The upcoming season includes 20 national events across the United States.

NHRA Vice President of Broadcast Steve Reintjes said the partnership reflects a long-term vision for the sport’s growth. He believes the series captures both the competitive stakes and the personalities that define drag racing.

“This docuseries will highlight the high-stakes action and unique personalities that make the incredible world of NHRA drag racing so special,” Reintjes said.
