Don Davis Race Cars (DDRC), Hughes Motorsports, and driver Doug Foley Jr. have launched the DDRC Bracket “Eliminator” Roadster, designed for bracket racing. Early production of this new vehicle is already underway, with first deliveries expected soon.
The DDRC Bracket “Eliminator” Roadster utilizes input from championship-winning racers to ensure consistency and repeatability essential for success on the track. “Every detail, from chassis setup to driver feel, has been developed to deliver confidence, predictability, and results,” said Scott Anderson, owner of Don Davis Race Cars.
Key features of the vehicle include precision chassis geometry for enhanced stability, driver-optimized ergonomics, and a design built for high-pressure racing conditions. “Bracket racing demands precision,” said Jim Hughes, championship-winning driver and owner of Hughes Motorsports. “You need a car that reacts the same way every pass. That’s exactly what the DDRC Bracket ‘Eliminator’ Roadster delivers.”
Doug Foley Jr. emphasized the importance of reliability in bracket racing, stating, “When you’re making pass after pass with money or championships on the line, you need a car that’s predictable and stable every single time.” He believes the DDRC Bracket “Eliminator” Roadster provides that necessary confidence.
Production is taking place at DDRC’s facility in Salisbury, NC., with strong interest among racers. Those looking to elevate their racing programs are encouraged to reserve a build slot early.
Founded in 1985, Don Davis Race Cars has built a reputation for quality and performance in sportsman drag racing. Now under the leadership of Scott Anderson, a former NASCAR fabricator, the company has expanded its capabilities with modern design tools and advanced manufacturing techniques.

In 2025, DDRC unveiled the DDRC Bracket “Eliminator” Roadster, a platform developed with insights from champion drivers like Jim Hughes and Doug Foley Jr. Enhancements include improvements in chassis geometry, suspension, engine placement, and driver ergonomics.
The specific design of the DDRC Bracket “Eliminator” Roadster focuses on the demands of modern bracket racing, where precision and repeatability are vital. “The Eliminator has everything a driver wants and nothing they don’t,” Hughes noted. “It’s the car you’d build if you had the time, tools, and thirty years of mistakes to learn from — and they already did that work for you.”
Key specifications of the car include a 105-inch wheelbase, a track width of 42 inches, and a weight of approximately 2,150 pounds with a big-block Chevy. The vehicle features a tuned 4-link rear suspension and a lightweight strut front end.
Maintenance has been simplified with a gas strut-assisted body lift and a transmission slide assembly for quick torque converter changes. “Bracket racing isn’t about flash — it’s about repeatability,” Foley said. “This car gives you that without needing to be babied. It’s built to work, round after round.”
As DDRC continues its early production efforts, the commitment to supporting grassroots racers remains a core focus. The company’s combination of over 40 years of experience with forward-looking engineering ensures it will continue to produce high-performance race cars.
