Strange Engineering has introduced new 2-piece 1350 Series Transmission Yokes for Powerglide, designed specifically for severe racing applications. Built from billet 4340 chrome moly steel with heat-treated steel straps, these yokes feature a black oxide finish to enhance corrosion resistance and are manufactured in the USA.
The driveshaft is a critical component for translating high horsepower to the pavement, yet it is often overlooked. Vehicles with modifications to engines, transmissions, or rear ends typically require custom driveshafts to ensure optimal performance.
Strange Engineering, known for its expertise in drag racing driveshafts, emphasizes the importance of these components. The company’s offerings include larger universal joint sizes, which are both stronger and more durable than stock options, necessitating upgrades to the Transmission Yokes and pinion yokes.
Strange’s HD Nodular Iron Transmission Yoke is crafted from a patented blend of nodular iron, offering greater tensile strength than conventional cast iron. Designed for high-performance street cars and cruisers, it accommodates 1310, 1350, and 1480 sized universal joints. Each yoke is cast in the USA, with extra thickness in critical areas and precision CNC machining for enhanced balance.
The Strange Chrome Moly Transmission Yoke builds on the HD model’s strengths, offering improved durability and strength. Made from heat-forged 4340 chrome moly steel, it is CNC machined to meet the rigorous demands of professional drag racing and includes added material for further reinforcement, as well as a corrosion-resistant black oxide finish.
The 2-piece design of the Strange Chrome Moly Transmission Yoke simplifies the process of transmission removal and installation. Unlike many vehicles with non-removable end caps on the front u-joint, this innovative yoke allows the driveshaft to remain in place within the vehicle, making the task less cumbersome and more efficient.
