For the opening segment of our 2024 Engine Performance Expo, hosts Joe Castello and Lake Speed Jr begin by talking about Joe’s “Project Pontiac” where Joe – along with a few well-known engine builder friends – will be restoring and racing the 1978 Pontiac that’s been sitting in his garage for 20 years.

As an introduction to the project, we get to go back to 1992 and Palm Beach International Raceway, where a television crew profiled Joe racing (and winning) as a 19-year-old.

In the second half of this segment, we head over to Lake’s garage, where he takes us through the steps of restoring a scuffed cylinder using a hack with a drain opener and a Scotch Bright pad to avoid replacing all the pistons in his engine.
