Brett LaSala is on the verge of becoming a two-time Sick Week champion after setting a new drag-and-drive track record at Gainesville Raceway on Friday. LaSala’s Snot Rocket 3.0 Ford Mustang completed a 6.225 run, surpassing the previous track record of 6.452 held by Sweden’s Michael Westberg.
LaSala’s 6.282 average is primed to exceed his 2024 average of 6.340, which also set a Sick Week record. “Once you make a good run and hand in your slip on day four you can see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he said. “It was a great run for Gainesville, the track crew did an amazing job and the car just wants more.”
Preparations for day four of Sick Week 2025, presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, were carried out by a crew including TVC, VP Racing Fuels, and local track teams. Several top drivers achieved personal bests, including Modified leader Josh Davis (6.372), Unlimited’s Graham Hayes (6.505), Pro Street’s Glenn Hunter (6.933), and Super Street’s Bob Hess Jr. (7.338).
However, the unpredictable nature of drag-and-drive claimed two contenders. Bryant Goldstone, who was fourth overall, suffered a mechanical failure when a rod kicked during his run, and Stefan Gustafsson is likely out after his oil pump belt broke at full throttle.
The remaining competitors faced the shortest drive of the week, 127 miles, back to South Georgia Motorsports Park for the final day. The route included a cruise through Lake City, where streets were closed for fans to enjoy the showcase of high-performance street cars alongside live music in the historic downtown area.
Day five of Sick Week 2025, presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, will take place at South Georgia Motorsports Park today, February 1, with racing scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
