The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has completed the purchase of National Trail Raceway, a premier drag racing facility located in suburban Columbus, Ohio. The track, which opened in 1964, will be an IHRA sanctioned track for the first time.
National Trail Raceway features a quarter-mile drag strip that recently underwent a concrete grind, along with upgraded bleachers for spectator comfort. Additional amenities include a diverse selection of food options at concessions and official merchandise available at the National Trail Raceway Pro Shop.
“The IHRA is great. I think (IHRA owner) Darryl Cuttell is taking it to the glory days and making it bigger and better than ever,” said Jay Livingston, who will remain as team manager at National Trail Raceway.
The venue is equipped to host national events while also supporting a strong bracket racing program, which aligns with the IHRA’s commitment to grassroots and Sportsman racing.
Racers have expressed enthusiasm for the IHRA’s recent announcements regarding expanded membership coverage and increased purses for the IHRA Team Finals and IHRA SuperSeries World Finals.
“We’ve already had a number of racers reach out to us,” Livingston said. “They have gone out and looked at the IHRA Team Finals held at Quaker City Motorsports Park, and they’re excited about the IHRA World Finals in Alabama that pays $25,000 to win.”
