The rejuvenated International Hot Rod Association makes its fourth stop of the season this week at Darana Raceway, continuing owner Darryl Cuttell’s bid to restore the series to national prominence. The event runs Sept. 3-6 and features a deep lineup of professional and sportsman categories.

The IHRA has already completed stops in Columbus, Milan, Michigan, and hosted a high-stakes Pro Modified race earlier in the summer. Darana Raceway, formerly known as National Trail Raceway, hosted the IHRA in July, where Scott Palmer and Mike McIntire collected victories in Top Fuel and Funny Car.

This weekend’s Outlaw Nitro Series program includes 25 nitro entries across Top Fuel and Funny Car, with 13 cars entered in the Top Fuel category. The field features IHRA newcomers Larry Dixon, Jasmine Salinas and Shawn Reed, who will make his first runs since a devastating crash in Seattle in July.

Pro Modified fans will see three variations of the category: legal Pro Modified, Outlaw Pro Mod and Pro Nitrous. Mountain Motor Pro Stock will also appear in its largest gathering of the season across any drag racing series.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the first leg of the IHRA Pro-Am Doubleheader will showcase Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Stock, Super Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod. The second half of the doubleheader will run Friday and Sunday alongside the professional program.

The professional portion of the event takes center stage Friday and Saturday with Top Fuel, Funny Car, Mountain Motor Pro Stock, Outlaw Pro Mod and Pro-Am racing. Competitive purses will be offered in each class.
