The International Hot Rod Association has outlined broadcast plans with SPEED SPORT for the 2026 Outlaw Nitro Series. The agreement continues a multi-year media partnership established during the organization’s first full season under new ownership.
IHRA officials said their current strategy centers on drag racing as the sanctioning body’s primary competitive focus. The Outlaw Nitro Series will again serve as the organization’s premier professional platform.
The 2026 season includes eight national events beginning March 19-21 at Darana Motorsports Park in Benson, N.C. The series will conclude October 22-24 at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga.
IHRA executives said offseason activity has included investments in several drag racing facilities. Those efforts involve venues such as Virginia Motorsports Park, Maple Grove Raceway, Atlanta Dragway, Memphis Motorsports Park and Heartland Park.
The organization currently sanctions more than 110 drag racing tracks globally. Officials believe the network supports the long-term stability of the Outlaw Nitro Series and its supporting classes.
Broadcast coverage will again be produced in coordination with SPEED SPORT and Windy City. IHRA leadership said the continued collaboration is intended to improve visibility for teams and events throughout the season.
IHRA Chief Operating Officer of Drag Racing Doug Foley Jr. said the series structure remains focused on competitive incentives for participants. He pointed to increased purses and racer support initiatives as key components of the 2026 program.
“For 2026, the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series is pulling out all the stops,” Foley said. “With huge purses, industry-leading benefits for racers, and a fan-friendly experience at the track, IHRA will build on our success last year and set the bar for all forms of professional racing.”
Foley said the partnership with SPEED SPORT has contributed to the series’ recent audience growth. He indicated that production and distribution improvements are expected to continue.
“Our partnerships with SPEED SPORT and Windy City have already been instrumental in showcasing our racers and events,” Foley continued. “We are excited to build on that success as we continue our partnership this season.”
IHRA officials view the broadcast agreement as part of a broader operational plan for the 2026 campaign. The strategy emphasizes consistency in scheduling, venue development and media outreach.
The Outlaw Nitro Series will maintain its position as the organization’s top professional category. Officials said further announcements regarding broadcast distribution details will be released ahead of the opening round.
