Jim Dunn Racing and Mooneyes are commemorating 75 years in drag racing this weekend at the NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Pomona Dragstrip. Special events will highlight the passion both brands have for the sport and the affection fans hold for them.
“We have been so fortunate to have a company like Mooneyes support Jim Dunn Racing for decades,” said Jon Dunn. “The Winternationals is a magical event in drag racing, and Pomona is our home track.”
During the season-ending NHRA championship banquet, Jim Dunn received the NHRA Lifetime Achievement Award. In his speech, he expressed gratitude for the drivers who have raced the Mooneyes Funny Car and for the current driver, Buddy Hull.
This weekend, Jim Dunn Racing will be pitted next to the NHRA Top Eliminator Club, with a red carpet for fans to access the Mooneyes Funny Car operation. Hull will lead Q&A sessions, discuss the car’s tear-down process, and sign autographs while the team services the race car.
“It is an honor to drive for Jim Dunn Racing and especially the Mooneyes Brand,” said Hull. “Everyone in drag racing around the world recognizes the iconic Mooneyes logo.”
Jim Dunn Racing will campaign the Mooneyes Funny Car at five events this season. A Mooneyes merchandise trailer will accompany the team to all events, offering fans unique t-shirts, hats, and souvenirs to celebrate the 75th anniversary and express gratitude for their support.
