Megan Meyer, a two-time NHRA World Champion, will return to competitive racing this weekend in her GUNK Top Alcohol Dragster at the Top Alcohol Shootout at Cecil County Dragway. Meyer has been away from the track for nearly two years.
This marks her first collaboration with Gary Pritchett, as the duo aims to make a strong impression in one of the year’s notable independent drag races. Both are focused on a successful comeback and a substantial payout.
“I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for months,” Meyer said. “It’s been almost a year since I’ve been behind the wheel of my GUNK dragster, and almost two years since I’ve raced competitively, but this one is different.”
The event features a heads-up format with no NHRA points at stake, only bragging rights and a $15,000 prize for the winner. This high-stakes competition includes serious talent, including drivers Meyer previously raced against in the NHRA.
Meyer will compete in her family-owned A/Fuel Dragster, which is backed by GUNK engine cleaners and currently leads national points with driver Matt Cummings. The car is known for its consistent 5.1-second runs.
Pritchett, a veteran crew member with over a decade in professional racing, rejoins the Randy Meyer team after a commendable rookie season as a driver. “This race gives us a chance to just go all out and have fun doing what we love,” said Pritchett.
