Mark Micke capped off his 2024 season by qualifying No. 1 in the M&M Transmission Pro Mod category at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals. His 3.591-second pass at 218.87 mph marked the quickest 32-car field in the history of eighth-mile Pro Modified racing.
After Micke, Kyle Salminen secured the second position by just a thousandth of a second with a 3.594 at 209.62 in his ProCharged 2003 Cavalier. The pairings were determined through a random chip draw after the 32 drivers qualified.
The Snowbird Outlaw Nationals also featured several other classes, with Lyle Barnett taking the top spot in Pro 275, Greg Blevins Jr. leading in Limited Drag Radial, Chris Holdorf at the top in Outlaw 632, and Shawn Pevlor qualifying first in Ultra Street.
Micke, who has qualified No. 1 at every event this season, expressed pride in his performance. “To be No. 1 against this group, that just puts an exclamation point on our season,” he said, adding he will face 2024 Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod winner Derek Ward in the first round.
Reigning PDRA Pro Boost champion Jason Harris qualified second, emphasizing the competitive atmosphere. “This is the best of the best right here,” said Harris, who expressed gratitude to his team and partners.
Melanie Salemi finished third with a 3.599-second run in her screw-blown 1968 Firebird. “To be able to come here with 64 cars, the baddest Pro Mod drivers in the world… it’s kind of refreshing to know that we’re still up there in the top three,” she said.
