The Pro 10.5 Challenge returns to the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod from February 27 to March 1 at Bradenton Motorsports Park. The event features an invitation-only field of top drivers from PDRA Pro Street and Outlaw 10.5, with a grand prize of $25,000 for the winner.
Promoter Wes Buck praised the inaugural event, stating, “The racers who competed in the inaugural Pro 10.5 Challenge really made a positive impression.” He noted that the group complemented the Pro Mod field, referencing standout moments including Lance Knigge’s dramatic finish and Nick Schroeder’s victory from the No. 14 spot.
Following the same format as last year, the second Pro 10.5 Challenge will adhere to PDRA Pro Street rules that limit competitors to 33×10.5 bias-ply slick tires and factory-style body dimensions. Approximately 20 drivers will be invited to compete for 16 available positions in the elimination rounds, with random chip draws determining pairings.
Tom Kasper will continue as the class liaison, coordinating with the Drag Illustrated event team to gather racers and sponsors. A veteran driver, Kasper now owns the twin-turbocharged Victus Sports Mustang, which is driven and tuned by his sons, Ty and TJ.
Kasper expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “The inaugural Pro 10.5 Challenge was one of the coolest things I’ve been a part of in racing.” He highlighted the strong field of Outlaw 10.5 cars and noted that the unpredictable chip draws led to thrilling races.
“The cars resemble those in the parking lot or garage but make as much power as Pro Mods,” Kasper added. “These cars are wild and crazy, and the drivers are willing to do whatever it takes to reach the finish line first, even if that means dragging the rear bumper at 200 MPH.”
