Persistent rain forced the postponement of Friday’s racing at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals, as officials continue to battle the weekend forecast at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. NHRA announced that professional qualifying for the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series will now begin Saturday morning, weather permitting.

Anticipating the storm system earlier in the week, NHRA took an aggressive approach to stay ahead of the rain. The organization completed the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition on Thursday, ensuring all sportsman categories were finalized before conditions deteriorated. It marked a rare early-week finish for the series, reflecting how unpredictable this season-ending weekend has become.

Officials initially moved Friday’s schedule forward several hours in hopes of catching a brief dry window for qualifying. That opportunity never came, as steady rainfall and heavy cloud cover prevented the track from drying enough for safe runs.

With conditions expected to improve slightly Saturday, the revised schedule calls for Top Fuel and Funny Car to open qualifying at 10 a.m. Pacific, followed by Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle. A second session for all four professional categories is tentatively planned for 12:30 p.m., pending track conditions.

The NHRA’s alcohol categories were also affected by the shifting timeline. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car are now scheduled to race at 9:15 a.m. and 12 p.m. Saturday, giving competitors one last chance to compete before Sunday eliminations.

Gates will open to fans at 7:30 a.m., though officials continue to monitor the evolving weather pattern. Track drying crews and race staff remain on standby to capitalize on any opportunity to resume racing as the championship-deciding weekend continues to test patience and planning.
