Pro Modified drivers from North America and beyond are headed to Bradenton Motorsports Park for the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals, taking place Dec. 5-8. The event boasts a $50,000 prize and marks the launch of the inaugural Drag Illustrated Winter Series, featuring three eighth-mile races totaling over $300,000 in purses.
“The Snowbird Outlaw Nationals has always been one of our biggest races of the year, and it’s only getting bigger this year,” said Victor Alvarez, track owner and promoter. “This is one last chance for racers in some of the most competitive classes to race for substantial prizes before the 2024 season concludes.”
The series also includes competition in classes such as Pro 275, Limited Drag Radial, and Outlaw 632, culminating in the popular Night of Fire featuring jet-powered vehicles. “This year, the fact that the Snowbirds is the kick-off for the inaugural DI Winter Series is going to take this race over the top,” Alvarez stated.
The Winter Series will also include the U.S. Street Nationals on Jan. 23-26, 2025, and the World Series of Pro Mod from Feb. 27 to March 1, 2025. Each race anticipates over 50 invited drivers competing for the 32 available spots.
An elite group of Pro Mod competitors will participate, including past winners Lyle Barnett and Melanie Salemi, and World Series champions Derek Ward and Spencer Hyde. NHRA stars, including four-time Top Fuel champion Antron Brown and six-time Pro Stock champion Erica Enders, are also set to compete.
“The DI Winter Series will feature the most competitive and diverse group of Pro Modified drivers ever assembled in one place,” said Wes Buck, Drag Illustrated founder. “Fans will witness matchups they’ve never seen before, as the best in the industry work together to create a historic experience.”
Additional races during the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals include the $15,000 Precision Shaft Technologies Pro 275 and $10,000 Limited Drag Radial events. The Florida N/T Racing No-Time Shootout and the No-Time Truck Shootout each also offer $7,500 prizes.
Saturday’s schedule features the Jet Jam Night of Fire, showcasing jet trucks and dragsters. Other events will include index racing and junior dragster competitions.
Pre-race testing will occur Monday through Thursday, leading into the qualifying sessions at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday. Eliminations will commence on Sunday at 9 a.m.
General admission tickets are priced at $30 for Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, while Saturday’s Night of Fire tickets cost $40. Active military personnel and children under 11 will receive free admission.
