If you are serious about your Mustang’s performance and reliability, the direct-fit FAB9™ fabricated 9" rear-end housing from Chassisworks provides the FAB9structural integrity, precision fit and adjustability required for any top contender.

The FAB9™ housing features strategically placed control arm mounts to improve performance, and works perfectly with OEM or aftermarket control arms in the factory mounting locations. Lower-control-arms mount at one of four axle bracket positions, permitting anti-squat adjustment and suspension geometry optimization for your particular vehicle. When used with coil-over shocks, included shock mounts provide three positions with a ride-height adjustment range of 1-3/4". An optionally available shock mount set increases the adjustment range to 3-1/16" and eight positions.

Housings are constructed from mild steel or 4130 chrome-moly and available in stock or narrowed widths. Additional assembly options include urethane-bushing or spherical-bearing upper-control-arm mounts and drag-race-ready, anti-roll-bar and wheelie-bar mounting brackets. TREND’S NEW BRONZE-INSERT SERIES PUSHRODS

5dTrend_BZ_seriesTrend Performance is introducing a new series of bronze-insert one-piece pushrods. They are prepared especially for Pro Stock teams, 800 CID Mountain Motor racers, Top Sportsman teams, and large-displacement nitrous engine builders. Further, they are particularly proficient in resolving lubrication troubles around the rocker balls. In addition, BZ pushrods are now available on Trend’s 24-hour QuickShip program.
   
Created from 4130 chrome-molybdenum thick-wall tubes, pre-formed and centerless-ground with a high-load bearing bronze insert, these shelf-stock items are fully heat-treated and available in diameters of 7/16 x .165-inch wall or 1/2 x .200-inch wall or 9/16 x .187-inch wall. On the lifter end they are manufactured with conventional ball-end diameters of 5/16 or 3/8 inch. On the top end, the bronze insert is press-fitted and machined with a .140-inch radius cup—designed to accept the popular 9/32-inch rocker adjuster ball.
   
This new BZ Series is case hardened to Rockwell Rc60 for extra strength and rigidity and made available in straight form, full single taper, or double taper (tapered from the center to the each end)
   
To lubricate the upper cup and rocker ball, a thin oil passageway runs through the center of the pushrod allowing pressurized oil to travel from the lifter bore to the rocker.
   
The heat treating process for the BZ Series is a one-step carbo-nitriding process, administered in an atmospheric furnace containing a combination of ammonia and natural gas. Carbon is induced into the surface of the pushrod from the natural gas, nitride from the ammonia.

WORLD PRODUCTS UNVEILS NEW 409 ENGINE BLOCK:

The resurrection and refinement of GM’s admirable big-block 49 years after its debut!

4dWorld409FRTopCtrWorld Products, the noted provider of crankcases, cylinder heads, and intake manifolds, has announced an intriguing, new aluminum replacement engine block for the desirable Chevy 409. Weighting 140 pounds lighter than the original and with the collaboration of long-time 409 tuning wizard Lamar Walden, World Products has resurrected a much-loved engine—a big-block from the golden era of the early nineteen-sixties.
    
“People desire something different,” ventured Lamar. “They are surrounded by small-blocks, powering everything from race cars to tow-trucks. But the 409’s distinctive W-shaped valve covers piques their interest immediately.”
   
As with all 409s the block deck is machined at 64 degrees to the cylinder center line, unlike the 90-degree convention of most engines. And the distinctive, embracing appearance of the 409 water pump is retained, as are most of the engine’s external surface areas.
   
Inside, however, the new cast aluminum block embraces modern technology. The cylinder bores have been increased from 4.3125 inches to 4.5 inches, allowing the engine to breathe better and to rev faster and higher than its venerable predecessor.
   
Further, to accommodate longer stroke lengths the position of the camshaft is raised by .250-inches. GM’s original 409 engine featured a 3.5-inch stroke that could be extended to 4.0 inches. This new World Products’ block permits a stroke length of 4.750 inches, offering a potential displacement of 632 cubic inches. The original 409 when endowed with a 4.0-inch stroke was limited to 482.
   
Four-bolt main caps replace the original two-bolt layout, and both the main bearing journals and the rod bearings journals are designed for today’s superior, high-performance bearings. The rod bearings for the original 409 were adequate for greater power output but the mains were not.
   
Approximately 25 technical innovations have been incorporated in this new engine block. Walden commented: “Common sense prevailed in the selection of parts; they are now all premium components, readily available, and economic to all pockets.”

STRANGE C-CLIP ELIMINATOR FOR STREET APPLICATION

A1033kitframed3Strange Engineering, Morton Grove Illinois, introduces a new style, specifically designed for street and/or strip, c-clip eliminator for most 10 & 12-bolt GM car rear ends equipped with c-clip style axles. In the past, c-clip eliminators for these applications have been designed for drag racing, which use ball bearings. Ball bearing c-clip kits are fine for drag racing, but are prone to leaking and premature failure when used for prolonged street use. Our specially designed c-clip eliminator kit (A1033) utilizes Timken unit (tapered) bearings, which survive severe side loads and constant use.

The Strange A1033 also features two seals per axle shaft, ensuring a completely sealed axle end. Complete axle and c-clip eliminator packages are also available.

RAM FILLS 302/351 FLYWHEEL VOID LEFT BY FORD RACING PARTS

11dRamSB_Ford_Flywheel_1525Fans of Ford Racing Performance Parts might lament the discontinuation of the billet steel flywheel (PN M-6375-A302) for the pre-1981 302/351 Windsor V8, but RAM has filled that void with an excellent upgrade (PN 1527). They have also replicated the product in aluminum (PN 2527). Both flywheel types are aimed directly at the street/strip and street rod market and both are SFI certified.

To provide a proper friction surface and to ensure the flywheel is parallel to the crankshaft flange, it is Blanchard-ground (flat to 0.001-inch). The 157-tooth starter gear ring is machined for three button-head securing screws and heat-shrunk in place on both steel and aluminum types.

Each Ram flywheel is individually balanced to ½ oz/in and is prepared with standard thread 5/16-inch attachment holes for 10½-inch Long-style as well as 10½-inch metric-thread holes for diaphragm pressure plates. Price point for the steel version (approx. $250) is competitive with the discontinued Ford item.

The 2575 aluminum version is designed to be completely rebuilt featuring a ¼-inch thick mild steel friction insert to dissipate the heat faster, maintain a flat friction surface, and reduce the likelihood of distortion.

Though replacement inserts can be renewed by the factory, RAM’s flywheels rarely require them. Typically they are resurfaced when wear exceeds 0.015-inch. Further, this resurfacing process could be applied many times over. The additional benefit is a 10-12-pound reduction in rotating mass and a moment of inertia (a measure of an object's resistance to changes in its rotation rate) that improves engine response and vehicle acceleration.

FLOATING MOUNT REPLACEMENT CALIPERS FROM WILWOOD

D52_wilwoodWilwood’s new D52 calipers are a direct bolt-on replacement for all 1968 and later GM muscle cars, passenger vehicles, and light duty trucks that were originally equipped with the big single piston D52 pad calipers. The calipers are built to mount in the stock location, with stock dimension rotors, using regular OE type or aftermarket compound replacement pads, and fitment anywhere the OE calipers were used.

The new D52 calipers provide a lightweight, high-strength, extreme duty alternative for customized street machines and all competition vehicles that still require OE mounting. The forged billet aluminum bodies provide a substantial weight savings, without rust or corrosion, over the original cast iron calipers. The two piston design improves pad loading and clamping efficiency over the single piston design, with an increase in overall piston clamping area to improve stopping power. Stainless steel pistons with high temperature bore seals minimize heat transfer and provide maximum durability in the most extreme circumstances. A smaller bore rear model is available to help maintain proper front to rear bias on vehicles that have been converted to four wheel discs. Optional color finishes are available to compliment wheel, tire, and rotor upgrades on all types of customized machines.
