TOMMY JOHNSON JR. HEADING TO RACE IN AUSTRALIA

NHRA veteran Tommy Johnson Jr. will make a guest appearance at the opening round of the National Drag Racing Nitro Funny Car championship at Sydney Dragway on October 27-28.

"I'm so excited to be coming back to Australia to race in the Aeroflow Funny Car Series,” said Johnson.

"It's a huge honor to be asked to drive one of Graeme Cowin’s cars. What he has done for the funny car series in Australia is amazing.”

"Ever since I was a little kid, I always wanted to race in Australia. Now to say I have driven a Nitro Funny Car and a Top Fuel Dragster, it’s a lifelong dream come true."

Johnson is no stranger to Australian fans, having previously raced a Top Fuel car for Rapisarda Autosport International.

One of only 17 drivers to have raced in both Top Fuel Dragster and Nitro Funny Car, Johnson has competed in over 450 NHRA events with 25 wins.

“My parents always supported my racing career and I am so proud that I can bring my mom on this trip to watch me compete Down Under.”

“Having watched previous rounds online from home, I know how competitive the Aeroflow Nitro Funny cars are, so I know I have my work cut out for me to bring the trophy back to the U.S.”

Johnson will drive the car raced by New Zealand ex-pat Morice McMillen that won the 2022-23 championship.
