LEGENDS: THE SERIES - PREVIEWING THE LEGEND OF SHIRLEY MULDOWNEY

No one person had to be tougher in the drag racing world than Shirley Muldowney when she broke into nitro racing. After all, as she knew ahead of time, it was a man's world. Her intent wasn't to embarrass anyone; she just wanted to race.

Shirley's inclusion came at a time when it was easier for a person of color to gain inclusion than of the opposite gender.

Check out this two-minute teaser for the Season 5, Legends: The Series season opener as Shirley describes why she had to be tough as nails just to survive, and what it took to gain her spot in the good old boys club. We've also included clips of her reminiscing of the Funny Car days and the painful memory of her Montreal crash.

Shirley revealed, "They didn't know the madder the made me, the better I got."

STORYTELLERS - SCOTTY CANNON ASKS, "WHAT EXACTLY IS A FUNNY CAR?"

Scotty Cannon, when he raced Pro Modified, was one of the more innovative and edgy racers. When we say it edgy, this description had nothing to do with his mohawk-hairdo and appearance, and every bit his tendency to walk the fine line of the rulebook. In this episode of Storytellers, Cannon discusses the time he used an Oldsmobile Funny Car to create one of the more aerodynamic Chevrolet Lumina Pro Modified entries with chassis builder Tommy Mauney.
