In 1990 NHRA filmed a get well message for Darrell Gwynn from all the racers in Atlanta following his accident at Santa Pod. The pit spot that Darrell was supposed to be in was used as Get Well Soon ground zero with Sheryl Bernstein, Lynne Prudhomme, Joyce Schultz and others leading the way.
This lengthy video is a reminder of just how tough his accident hit the racing community, and the list of members within our racing fraternity who are no longer with us.

Remember those Lethal Weapon movies of the 1980s and 90s when actors Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) struggled with the game plan of, "Do we do it on three? Or one, two, three, then do it?"
While it might not rank up there with Pro Stock's greatest oops moments of the 1990s which included fiery hoodscoops and exploding oil tanks, the 1995 Winston Select Finals, has a moment when the late Steve Evans shares his thoughts on "taking a dive" in the Pro Stock ranks. During that time frame it happened pretty often between engine builders and engine lessees as well as between fathers and sons. The commentary is priceless.
We're in stitches here, as they say, "Busting a gut laughing."

In 1968, the folks from Chrysler decided they needed to build the ultimate Stock and Super Stock vehicle from their factory. They teamed up with Hurst for what was a limited run of Barracudas and Darts, and what they built was a total of 50 were built with 426 Hemis. They were not street legal, nor were they street driven. They were only destroyed to go out and destroy Fords and Chevys on the drag strip.
