FEEDBACK FRIDAY – FROM THE GRANDSTANDS: HONORING THE BIG DADDIES

FEEDBACK ARTICLE – FROM THE GRANDSTANDS: HONORING THE BIG DADDIES

6_14_2009_charlet.jpgGreat video. I had the pleasure last weekend to see Mike and Adam Konopacki both win at an AMA Dragbike event in TG & SC respectively. Mike's millionth National Event win and Adam's first.

A while back we sat down and counted the number of father /son teams racing dragbikes at our local tracks and came up with about 15 pair or so. Very cool. - Jack

Thank you for a wonderful article about your Big Daddy. Being the namesake of my Dad, I carry on the traditions to my children and grandchildren. As I took my oldest grandson to the last races of Hawaii Raceway Park, I hear the echoes of my enthusiasm through him. And then I realize the pride my Dad had through my eyes now. I watched my Big Daddy race his 32 5-window from my Mother's arms holding my dinner milk bottle. When I got racing at the same track I didn't tell my parents, but my Big Daddy found out from his race friends that his son was spanking them like he did. All my Big Daddy told me in his softest voice, "Don't tell your Mom."

I will always honor the many lessons from him by passing the torch He carried for me. I learned my fractions holding sockets and wrenches before age 4, my grandchildren takes exact same steps. Our 4 year-old twin grandsons, as well as the other 7 in our tribe, can tell you which is larger between a 5/8 and 7/16!

The 11-year-old is "researching" magazines and catalogs so we can build my Chevelle. He has called it his inheritance. I wish my Big Daddy could see his legacy now. Happy Father's Day to all. Aloha. - Ken
