NEW ADVANCEMENTS FROM RAM CLUTCHES

ram_clutchesRecently Ram Clutches made significant changes to two of the essential mechanisms in drag racing clutches. First, they greatly reduced the friction between the clutch levers and the pivot pins by introducing copper-alloy bushings to the fulcrum. The bushings contribute lubricity and as a result achieve smoother disengagement.

Second, Ram revised the stand-adjusting mechanisms. These adjusters are located on the circle of stanchions around the clutch that connect the flywheel to the cover assembly and provide an anchor for the floater plate. By moving the stand adjusters away from the flywheel, closer to the cover assembly, the outward distortion of the stands under centrifugal forces at high engine speeds is much reduced. Hence racing clutches are now easier to dismantle and reassemble.
