Aeromotive’s Cobra Jet Dragster competed in NHRA Super Comp.

“We are fully aware of the potential of these engines and had no doubt that it would be fast enough, the question was really whether or not we could be competitive right out of the box without any testing and no time to really dial the car in,” said Steve Matusek, Aeromotive President.

With its first ever trip down the track, the CJ Dragster went a 9.60 E.T. at 152 MPH. After a couple more qualifying runs, Matusek drove the car to a second round elimination by just one one-thousandth. Its best time and mile per hour, 8.899 E.T. at 154.95 MPH. “I think we did exactly what we thought these engines could do. Go out and be competitive right out of the shoot with crate engine. A supercharged, EFI engine none-the-less,” Matusek said. “We plan to campaign this car in NHRA Super Comp for the majority of this season. Who knows, maybe we’ll try our hand at Top Dragster.”

The Aeromotive Cobra Jet Dragster comes in on the coattails of the wildly popular Aeromotive Twin Turbo Mustang powered by none other than a Ford 5.4L Modular Engine and soon to followed by the new Aeromotive Cobra Jet set to debut later this year.
