On Sunday following final eliminations, race fans attended the 3rd annual Eric Medlen Ice Cream Social at Infineon Raceway.  Fans were able to enjoy an array of flavors, all donated by Dreyer’s Ice Cream, and they also donated $4,042 to Speedway Children’s Charities. Race fans and the raceway have combined to generate more than $20,700 over the first three years of this event.

Medlen, who succumbed in March 2007 to injuries sustained from an accident during a testing session at Gainesville (Fla.), was a lover of ice cream, and to honor his memory Infineon Raceway has hosted the ice cream social for the past three years. The annual event takes place on the road course following final eliminations.

The Sonoma chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities is dedicated to supporting youth groups in Sonoma County, and has distributed more than $3 million since 2002.
