TASCA'S "LINCOLN" IS A HOT ROD

Being the only driver to make a full pass under power gave 0933-02470.jpgBob Tasca, III plenty to crow about during a round of qualifying that saw track temperatures at 120 degrees. Being able to back up his 4.364-second first round run with a 4.214 had Tasca ready to do a little dancing on the streets to the tune of 'Hot Rod Lincoln'.

Tasca exited his Quick Lane/Motorcraft Ford Mustang declaring the run was so smooth it was like “driving a Lincoln”. When he exited his car after the second qualifying session during the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals, Tasca used the opportunity to correct himself saying, “This isn't a Lincoln this is one HOT ROD!”

Between rounds Tasca predicted it would take a “25” to hold onto the top spot, however his crew chief, Chris Cunningham, dialed a bit more oomph into the tune up.

Sitting on the line for the second round of qualifying and seeing Cruz Pedregon go 4.238, Tasca asked his crew chief if he had enough in the car. “He says, 'we're close. Probably a snitch better.' As a driver that is what you want to do; you want to sit in the car Friday night knowing you have a tuneup that can put you low et.”

Tasca further reveal that Cunningham didn't “go back to the box” after Cruz's run. With the knowledge that temperatures will drop around 10 degrees tomorrow along with expected cloud cover, Tasca says, “I don't believe it will hold, but we'll just have to go out and get the job done again.”

While low et went to Tasca, 4.214 seconds, fastest speed, 283.79 mph, went to Jerry Tolliver.

BIRTHDAYS ALSO HELP –
Bob Tasca made it clear that the effort by the team is what led to his fast qualifying. However, having your mom along for the ride on her birthday was a good luck charm not to be ignored, either.
