NHRA MIDSOUTH NATIONALS POSTPONED UNTIL MONDAY

rain_memphis2Persistent rain showers forced the NHRA to postpone the Midsouth Nationals in Memphis, Tenn., until Monday morning at 10 AM. Sportsman eliminations begin at 9:30.

Top Fuel No. 1 qualifer Larry Dixon said no one prefers to have an event rained out because it creates a hardship on both the teams and especially the race fans.

"For the teams, it changes your travel plans, but I feel bad for the fans," said Dixon, who races Clay Millican in thefirst round of eliminations. "A lot of people have to work on Monday, and they spent a lot of money to be here. We had two days of awesome weather, and it looked like we'd have some great racing today. We still have some great racing, but it'll have to be tomorrow."

The No. 1 qualifiers for the event are Robert Hight (Funny Car), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana (Pro Stock Motorcycle).
