Bobby Rowe, a former Funny Car driver from Memphis, Tenn., passed away on Thursday. The cause of death is not known at this time but Rowe had experienced health issues over the last four years.

Bobby Rowe, a former Funny Car driver from Memphis, Tenn., passed away on Thursday. The cause of death is not known at this time but Rowe had experienced health issues over the last four years.

Rowe is best known for driving a Don Schumacher Funny Car in the 1970s and in the 1980s served as crew chief for Dan Pastorini.

"Its very sad to lose a friend," said Schumacher who confirmed the two had maintained their friendship over the years. "Drag racing lost a good friend. Bobby loved the sport and the people."
