In the final results from Silver Dollar Raceway and the NHRA Southeast Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Duane Shields out ran Bill Reichert for the Top Alcohol Dragster title and Alexis De Joria took the trophy in Top Alcohol Funny Car.

Shields, Boulder City, Nev., laid down a 5.298 second lap at 272.01 mph for the quickest run of the day against defending national champion Reichert of Owosso, Mich.  This is Shield’s sixth win of the year sitting third in the national points standings going into this weekend’s event.

De Joria, Bronson, Fla., scored her first win in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the expense of Mickey Ferro, Stamford, Conn., with a 5.611 second, 259.46 mph pass.  DeJoria qualified third and beat Mark Billington, Norcross, Ga. in round one.

Ray Connolly, Elyria, Ohio scored a rare double taking the wins in both Super Comp and Super Gas.  Connolly won over Raymond Miller, Spring Hill, Fla., in Super Comp then ran a perfect 9.900 seconds on a 9.900 index in his Super Gas ’63 Corvette against Tom Stalba, Mullica Township, N.J.

Van Puckett, Monroe, Ga., won for the home state in Comp Eliminator over Arnie Martel and Super Stock runner Mike Crutchfield, Montgomery, Ala., held off Mike Tueffel of Browns Summit, N.C.

Winning in other categories were Jimbo Fields, Gallatin, Tenn., against Gary Emmons, Friendswood, Texas; Ken MacNicol, Hendersonville, Tenn., beat Ray Todd also of Friendsville; Mike Coughlin, Delaware, Ohio, won over Ricky Adkins, Milan, Mich., in Top Sportsman; and Kurt Damron, Fruitland Park, Fla., won in Top Dragster over Pete Wheeler, Jacksonville, Fla.

This wraps up the NHRA Southeast Division schedule however drivers can still score points at out of division events and national events toward both division and national championships.
