ATTITUDE’S CP.COM TO UNVEIL ALL-TIME PRO MOD TOP 20

pro_mod_logoAttitude’s CompetitionPlus.com believes in honoring drag racing’s milestones. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the first official Pro Modified race sanctioned by the IHRA in March 1990.

Beginning Monday, January 11, we will honor the Top 20 Pro Modified drivers, two at a time.

Each week, Attitude’s CompetitionPlus.com will select two drivers from a list compiled by a board of advisors knowledgeable on Pro Modified from the start.

This is the second major All-Time List Attitude’s CompetitionPlus.com has undertaken. Three years ago, the popular electronic magazine listed the all-time Top 20 IHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock drivers in celebration of the thirty year anniversary of that division.

This is the second major All-Time List Attitude’s CompetitionPlus.com has undertaken. Three years ago, the popular electronic magazine listed the all-time Top 20 IHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock drivers in celebration of the thirty year anniversary of that division.

“These lists are always a major challenge,” said Bobby Bennett, editor and publisher of Attitude’s CompetitionPlus.com. “The major challenge is checking and rechecking the facts and making sure those who have made history earn their just reward. There will always be critics but in the end we are confident that we will have produced the best accountability possible.”

Bennett, a freelancer back in the formative years of Pro Modified, was at the first-ever Pro Modified event. In the years since that debut, he’s become a noted historian of the class. He’s currently penning a four-part series on the early history of the class for Attitude’s CompetitionPlus.com.

“I was in diapers when Funny Cars came around, so I didn’t get to share in that excitement like some of the veteran drag racing reporters did,” he added. “But, Pro Modified, I was there to watch it grow from a group of doorslammer racers who just wanted to go fast and put nitrous on their cars. I’m not really surprised how far Pro Modified has developed with dedicated websites, a sanctioning body [ADRL] and now an official professional class under the NHRA sanction. When you have a shining star that burns as bright as that class has over the years, it’s impossible to hide it.”

On Friday, January 8, Attitude's CompetitionPlus.com will release a list of the five honorable mentions, five drivers who didn't make the top 20 but certainly shouldn't be ignored for their contributions.
