I don’t think the situation could have turned out any better,” admitted Musi, who last raced NHRA competition in 1989. “We make the power and the speed proves that. I think for those who didn’t believe an electronic fuel injected car could run fast, this might leave them reconsidering their position.”

The run might be Musi’s last hurrah, at least for a while.

Musi owns the powertrain in the Dodge Stratus owned by Curacao-native Frank Brandao. Brandao has decided to take the car back to the island for local racing, relegating Musi to the sidelines.

That’s the way it goes, I guess,” said Musi. “I have a few teams I am going to work with, explore my options for racing. If anybody has a good, lightweight car and wants to go fast – I know where a good power train is and a pretty good driver as well.”

Musi reached the quarter-finals in Englishtown. The former Pro Stock veteran and past Pro Street champion defeated Ed Hoover in the first round to score his first NHRA round win since 1981. His day ended in the second round against No. 1 qualifier Raymond Commisso.

UPDATED: Car owner Frank Brandao has had a change of heart and will keep the Dodge Stratus in the United States. Instead he will take the team's older Dodge Aventer down to Curacao. Musi is hoping for a few more stops on the NHRA GSA tour this season.
