MORGAN LUCAS RACING RELEASES TUNING CONSULTANT ROB WENDLAND

Team owner and driver Morgan Lucas announced Tuesday that tuning consultant Rob Wendland has been released from his two-car team, which is based in Brownsburg, Ind.

"We appreciate Rob's efforts and hope he gets another gig right away," Lucas said. "This was simply a matter of our tune-up not matching what Rob is used to doing. It was a bad fit for him and as much as we tried to make it work, it just didn't. There's no hard feelings at all and I have nothing but respect for Rob. I wish him well."

Wendland joined Lucas' team just two months ago after spending a year and a half with Don Schumacher Racing as assistant crew chief on Antron Brown's dragster. Prior to that, Wendland served as car chief on 14-time world champion John Force's Funny Car.

"I want to thank the Lucas family for the opportunity they offered me," Wendland said. "I think they're on the right track and the guys on the crew are very capable. They just might surprise some people once the Countdown starts."
