KORETSKY BACKS CONNOLLY FOR INDY

connollyTwo years ago, Dave Connolly accomplished a tough task when he captured his second consecutive NHRA Pro Stock victory at drag racing’s biggest race, the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis.

That was the Ohio native’s 20th of 21 career wins in what was his last season in Pro Stock, but he hasn’t stopped racing.  He returned to his Sportsman roots, racing and winning in Super Comp, Super Gas and Top Sportsman.

Now, with the backing of Kenny Koretsky and his Nitro Fish apparel, Connolly has an opportunity to win back-to-back events at Indianapolis again this year, only this time the races are separated by one week and will include hundreds of competitors.

Now, with the backing of Kenny Koretsky and his Nitro Fish apparel, Connolly has an opportunity to win back-to-back events at Indianapolis again this year, only this time the races are separated by one week and will include hundreds of competitors.

Connolly will be driving the Nitro Fish Super Comp dragster Wednesday when the 56th Mac Tools U.S. Nationals gets underway at O’Reilly Raceway Park.  One week later, he is entered in the 15th annual Million Dollar Weekend at ORP.

“Dave and I have been friends for a long time,” said Koretsky.  “He’s an excellent driver and I think he is a perfect addition to the Nitro Fish team for the U.S. Nationals and the Million Dollar Weekend races.”

“This will be two big weeks at Indy for bracket racers,” Connolly said.  “It’s an exciting time.  We definitely appreciate Kenny for his participation in our program.  I’d sure like to go out and win a U.S.  Nationals trophy for him.

“Racing is a very expensive sport and we are thankful to all the people who support us and allow us to go racing.”

There are more than 130 other Super Comp drivers who will be challenging Connolly for a visit to Monday’s winner’s circle.

Connolly said the Million Dollar Weekend will attract from 150 to more than 300 drivers for four races (Sept. 9-12), each with high-dollar payouts.  “They are the best bracket racers in the world and there are eight or nine grueling rounds in each race.”
