TROXEL HEADED OVERSEAS TO RACE PRO MOD AGAIN

Melanie_Troxel_PMPro Mod pilot Melanie Troxel, the lone American entered in the FIA European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway in England, is looking to make a statement upon her return across the pond. Troxel raced the season opener at Santa Pod but her team's performance fell short of their expectations.

"We definitely feel like we have some unfinished business there," Troxel said.

The R2B2 team struggled throughout qualifying and as a result Troxel's Worldwide Pro Mod Association Camaro made an early exit on race day. The team finished on a high note by setting the track record on an exhibition run later in the day but it wasn't the same as racing for the trophy.

The R2B2 team struggled throughout qualifying and as a result Troxel's Worldwide Pro Mod Association Camaro made an early exit on race day. The team finished on a high note by setting the track record on an exhibition run later in the day but it wasn't the same as racing for the trophy.

"We didn't really figure out how to get the car down the track until qualifying was over," Troxel said.  "Then we went back out and made a great exhibition run that was the best run of the weekend, so needless to say we're excited to go back and use what we learned in competition this time."

Troxel and the R2B2 team also raced the FIA Nitrolympx Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in August. After powering through the field to the trophy round, the group was once again left unfulfilled as gloomy weather and a looming curfew forced officials to cancel the final. In a rare event, Troxel was awarded the victory based on her superior qualifying times, leaving her with another empty feeling.

"Obviously we're not unhappy with the outcome of Hockenheimring because we ran really well there," Troxel said. "It's just not right leaving the racetrack without actually racing the final round and coming away with the win the way you should, which is running someone down the track."

Troxel hopes that she can have a repeat of the Nitrolympx weekend in Santa Pod, with the addition of being able to complete the final round. She'd also like to see teammate Michael Gillqvist in the other lane once again.

"I definitely want to go back and this time hopefully go all the way to the final round again against Micke and get to race it out this time," Troxel said.

The FIA European Finals take place Sept. 9-12 at Santa Pod Raceway.
