DAVID POWERS MOTORSPORTS RELOCATES

NHRA Top Fuel team David Powers Motorsports has relocated to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Brownsburg, Ind. The 40,000 square-foot race shop is located on Southpoint Circle in the Indianapolis suburb.

The shop will house both the Matco Tools and Caterpillar Top Fuels teams and allows for future expansion. The building features a modern look and offers a fan-friendly viewing area for race fans. The building was constructed by ACME Buildings, Inc. and is owned by Tim Buckley, President of Vintage Design Inc. and financial partner of David Powers Motorsports. The team had previously worked out of a facility in Pittsboro, Ind.

“We are thrilled to be fully moved into our new shop in Brownsburg,” Powers said. “I want to thank Lee Beard and our entire race team for making such a smooth transition. We wanted to design a race shop with a unique look that is comfortable to our employees, sponsors and race fans and we feel we have accomplished that. It’s exciting to have our shop in Brownsburg, which has quickly become the capitol of NHRA drag racing.”

Last season the two Powers-owned dragsters finished second (Rod Fuller) and eighth (Whit Bazemore) in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship standings. In its first full season with multiple cars, Fuller drove his Caterpillar dragster to three wins in six final rounds appearances. The team also collected five No.1 qualifying awards. The Powers team was the only multi-car Top Fuel team with two cars to make the Countdown to 4. In November, the team announced that 16-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Antron Brown will pilot the Matco Tools dragster in 2008.
