$50K SHOOTOUTS COMING FOR NHRA PS, PM CARS?

There's a big payday coming for those who race in both the NHRA's Pro Modified and 500-inch Pro Stock classes, according to a source close to the situation.

John Waldie, the former spokesman for the now-defunct Real Pro Modified Association, confirmed with CompetitionPlus.com at the PRI Show that a $50,000-to-win shootout for each classification on the weekend before the NHRA Gatornationals in Orlando, Fla., is in the final stages of planning.

"Knowing Richard Freeman is involved, he's hoping to get it to 100, 100," Waldie confirmed.

More information is expected to be available today during the annual Pro Modified Summit, hosted annually at the PRI Show in Indianapolis. The conference is scheduled for 11 AM, EST Friday, in Room 212 at the show.

"This is more of a marketing state of the union," Waldie confirmed. "We're going to talk about the class, the future of the class. The Pro Charger people, for instance, are coming, and Steve Libby's going to make an incredible presentation on having an actual Pro Mod experience at NHRA with an area like the Mello Yello display at the races."
