NHRA ON CANADIAN TV

For the seventh consecutive year, NHRA has announced that TSN, the all-sports TV network in Canada, will televise all 24 events in the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, dedicating nearly 60 hours of programming to NHRA, the fastest and most exciting motorsport in the world.

Highlighting TSN’s 24-event, 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series telecast schedule will be coverage of the final round of eliminations.

The season begins with the 48th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals from the fabled Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Southern California and stretches the entire season, concluding with the 44th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals, also at the historic quarter-mile track in Pomona, Calif.  The coverage also includes programming from the world’s largest and most prestigious drag racing event, the 54th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals from O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis.

NHRA sanctions eight member tracks in Canada, offering many of its popular grassroots sportsman racing programs. NHRA’s Canadian member tracks include: Luskville, Quebec (Luskville Dragway); Napierville, Quebec (Napierville Raceway); St. Sparta, Ont. (St. Thomas Dragway); Medicine Hat, Alberta (M.H.D.R.A. Dragstrip); Mission, British Columbia (Mission Raceway); Ashcroft, British Columbia (Nl'Akapxm Eagle Motorplex); Prince George, British Columbia (North Central Motorsports Park); and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Saskatchewan International Raceway).

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 24 events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRA has 80,000 members and 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series and the NHRA Street Legal Drags presented by AAA. The NHRA also offers the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
