PMRA CHAMPION GETS NEW CAR

The champion is back.
And defending Pro Modified Racing Association Champion Bruce Boland will be returning to PMRA competition with a brand new car for the 2008 tour.
“I’m looking forward to the PMRA season,” said Boland, who amassed enough points only at the last event of 2007 to win the tightly-contested race. “And I’d like to make a repeat of last season,” he added.
Boland and the rest of the B&B Racing team put a new 2500-horsepower ERD Brad Anderson Hemi in the 1953 Corvette last year, and for 2008 the power plant will be sitting in a new LJ Chassis 1963 Corvette-bodied Pro Modified.
"A great veteran drag racer, Bruce Boland is dedicated to the PMRA series, and like most of our teams he understands the concept of our series, which is to go out and entertain the fans, and the rest will look after itself," explained Bruce F. Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the PMRA. "Bruce is a knowledgeable, seasoned competitor that runs hard and is on his game plan every time he gets into his Pro Modified. You can never count him out."

When asked why a 63 Corvette, Boland replied that he had a new car with the same body built in 1999, but didn’t get much seat time in it.
“I didn’t give that car a chance,” he said. “I sold it to a fellow in Cincinnati less than a year later. It was a nice, nice car. I didn’t have it long enough to enjoy.”
The new Corvette, which is Boland’s seventh new car since 1995, is also from the shops of LJ Chassis.
“I want to thank Lionel at LJ for doing a great job on my cars,” added Boland. “I also was to thank Jim Salemi at G-Force Race Cars for supplying chassis components for the new car and for his tips and expertise over the years.”
An original PMRA member, Boland won the first Lancaster event in 2005. In 2007, he had a pair of runner-ups (Grand Bend and Lancaster), and this, along with making the show at each 2007 race, gave him the championship.
Boland was quick to point out his success could not have happened without his team members. “I wouldn’t be here without my crew members and want to thank Rob Cesario, Brad Short, and Mark Dochstader. I also want to thank my wife Laura.”
Boland added he was grateful for the sponsorship of Backwoods Excavating, Pro Fuels, Excell Motorsports, A&A Auto Parts, and Double D Construction.
“Another thank you goes out to Terry Vince and Carl Spiering at ERD for their engine work and tips,” Boland went on. The ERD/BAE 526-cubic inch Hemi sports an SSI supercharger and Waterman fuel system at present.
The B&B team will be ready with their new car when the 2008 PMRA season opens for the May 17-18 Victoria Day Weekend - PMRA Challenge at Cayuga, Ontario’s Toronto Motorsports Park.
