TROXEL FLYING WITH THUNDERBIRDS

Melanie Troxel has always faced her fears head on; which is exactly the
way she will approach her upcoming flight with the Air Force's
legendary Thunderbirds in the days following the NHRA Summit Racing
Equipment Nationals in Las Vegas.
The multi-time Top Fuel national event winner, who now drives a Funny Car for Gotham City Racing is cautiously confident headed into the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to thunder through the skies.
Melanie Troxel has always faced her fears head on; which is exactly the way she will approach her upcoming flight with the Air Force's legendary Thunderbirds in the days following the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Las Vegas.
The multi-time Top Fuel national event winner, who now drives a Funny Car for Gotham City Racing is cautiously confident headed into the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to thunder through the skies.
“Getting to ride in a jet like that is something most every person has always wanted to do,” Troxel said. “This is going to be exciting but I must tell you my primary objective is to not throw up. That’s one of two things I don’t want to do – pass out or throw up.”
The straight on horsepower isn’t the big concern for Troxel, who resides in Avon, Indiana. Riding along in a jet fighter presents a different set of challenges than her land-based rocket presents.
“I think it’s the side g-forces that get you,” Troxel explained. “We generally don’t experience those in the dragster.”
Whether the experience is on land, water or the skies above the race track – Troxel welcomes the opportunity.
“I’m just a huge adrenalin junkie,” Troxel admitted. “I’ve always called driving a nitro car the ultimate adrenalin rush, but this experience might give that a run for its money.”
