FOLEY EXTENDS NHRA SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE CHARLOTTE

Top Fuel driver Doug Foley has confirmed his reservation for Foley & Lewis Racing to compete at the "Bellagio of Drag Strips," the nickname given to brand-new zMax Dragway, for the upcoming inaugural Carolina NHRA Nationals, which run Sept. 11-14. Foley will race with the support of Senecal Construction of Alamance, N.C., a commercial drywall contractor near
Greensboro.

"It's really exciting to have the chance to race at zMax Dragway at the first race ever held there," Foley said. "I saw the place in person during a family vacation earlier this summer and it looks every bit as good as everyone says it's going to be. I can't wait to see the finished product and to race our Senecal Construction dragster down the track.

"Ron Senecal stepped up big for us so we could make this event and we're going to do our best to bring some attention to his drywall business." Limited to just four races so far this season due to unexpected sponsor issues, Foley & Lewis Racing has faired well when given the chance, qualifying as high as third in Englishtown, N.J., and fifth in Houston in fields populated by full-time professionals. In their first four races the team bannered Fx Caprara Car Companies of Watertown, N.Y., which slides forward into an associate sponsor position for this event.

"It's extremely important for us to put our best foot forward at the races we do attend because our hunt for a new full-time deal never ends," Foley said. "It's much easier to show potential sponsors what NHRA drag racing is all about when you're actually at an event and you're out there competing. It really puts a premium on your true-blue supporters like Billy Caprara and Ron Senecal. I'm not even sure if those guys really know how much it means to us to have them as part of our team.

"One way to make them happy for sure is to have success at the races and we're hoping for a big weekend in Charlotte. We have a great tuner in Doug Kuch and the guys haven't been making many mistakes. There's no reason to think we can't
turn on some win lights at zMax Dragway."

Despite his limited schedule, Foley is 18th out of 32 racers in the POWERade points standings.
