Former ANDRA Champion Brett Stevens abruptly retired from drag racing on December 10, leaving many wondering what prompted his decision.  Sources Down Under report that Stevens began offering all of his racing hardware for sale in the Internet.

However, a report on Australia’s 9 News states that Stevens was among 45 people recently arrested on charges of drug trafficking after a year-long investigation. Officials seized $6M (AUD) worth of property including “high powered drag cars,” the televised report stated.

A source close to Australian drag racing told CompetitionPlus.com that all of Stevens' racing equipment - including a Top Alcohol Funny Car, five Top Doorslammers, four nitro Harleys and a Pro Stock Buell - were seized.

The final sting in this investigation came this morning when officials raided fourteen properties.

Reportedly, this is the first of two major scandals expected to hit Australian drag racing this year. A source close to the situation told CompetitionPlus.com that one involving a former sportsman champion is soon to hit the newswire.
